Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Hospital Coder to perform thorough medical record reviews, abstract data, and assign ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures. The role supports efficient cash flow by managing unbilled coding reports and ensures up-to-date coding practices through ongoing training.

Minimum requirements include a High School/GED, 1 year in hospital coding, and CCS or CIC certification. Preferred is an Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School / GED and 1 year in hospital coding.
• CCS or CIC certification is required/per preferred.
• Familiar with anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medical information to assign ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstract data elements and enter coded information into the designated system.
• Manage medical information and cash flow related to unbilled coding reports.
• Stay updated on ICD guideline changes and apply them in daily work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
