Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Hospital Medical Coder to perform thorough medical record review, interpret diagnoses and procedures, and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes to support billing accuracy and reduce days in accounts receivable.

The role emphasizes data abstraction, timely entry into the coding system, staying current with ICD guidelines, and collaboration with care teams. Must have CCS or CIC certification and a health information background.

Qualificações

• High School / GED required.
• 1 year in Hospital coding.
• Completion of coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) OR Certified In-patient Professional Coder (CIC).
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Understanding of computer applications.
• Ability to work with members of the health care team.

Responsabilidades

• Reviews and interprets medical information to assign ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstracts data elements to satisfy statistical requests and enters coded/abstracted information into designated system.
• Manages unbilled coding report to support cash flow and billing.
• Keeps informed of ICD guideline updates and implements changes in daily work.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
