Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Hospital Coder to perform thorough medical record review and ICD coding to support accurate billing and data reporting. You will abstract data elements and ensure timely entry into the designated system, contributing to faster cash flow and better health information management.

The role requires 1 year of hospital coding experience, strong medical terminology knowledge, and CCS or CIC certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; 1 year hospital coding experience.
• Completion of coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• CCS or CIC certification (or both) required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to assign ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstracts data elements for statistical requests and enters coded information into the system.
• Manages unbilled coding reports to support cash flow.
• Keeps updated on ICD guideline changes via training and resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
