Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a medical coder to review medical records, assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and abstract data for statistical requests. The role supports cash flow by managing unbilled coding reports and staying current with coding updates.

Minimum qualifications include high school education and coding coursework; RHIT/RHIA or CPC credentials are preferred. This is an on-site coding position with adherence to HIPAA and privacy policies.

Qualifications

• High School/GED plus formal coding education and/or coursework in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• Experience with hospital or physician coding and common surgical and E/M procedures.
• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM/ CPT coding guidelines and coding clinics.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medical information to determine appropriate ICD-10-CM/CPT codes.
• Abstract data elements and enter coded information into the designated system.
• Manage unbilled coding reports to support cash flow.
• Stay updated on ICD-10-CM/CPT changes and apply them daily.
• The role may include other duties as assigned.
