The ideal candidate has a minimum of High School / GED, 1 year hospital coding experience, and CCS/CIC certification or equivalent, with strong data entry and teamwork capabilities.

Qualifications

• Must have High School / GED and 1 year hospital coding experience.
• Completion of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology coding courses.
• CCS or CIC certification or eligible.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and strong data entry skills.
• Understanding of computer applications and ability to work with the health care team.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to assign ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstracts data elements and enters coded information into designated system.
• Manages unbilled coding reports to support cash flow.
• Keeps current with ICD guideline updates through training and resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
