Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a skilled Medical Coder to perform thorough medical record review, abstract data, and assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes to diagnoses and procedures. You will help optimize cash flow by accurate coding and reporting.

Requirements include high school education with coding coursework, understanding of ICD-10-CM/CPT guidelines, and the ability to collaborate with clinicians and coding staff. Experience in hospital or physician coding is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School/GED plus coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• Experience in hospital or physician coding, plus 1 year in mid-level facilities.
• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM/CPT guidelines and updates.

Responsibilities

• Review records to assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstract data elements for statistical requests and enter into systems.
• Help manage unbilled coding report to support cash flow.
• Keep current with coding updates by training and clinics.
