Qualifications

  • BLS certification required.
  • Accepted certifications include RMA, CMA, CCMA, or NCMA with current memberships.
  • Strong computer skills, including ability to work with medical software.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple changing priorities effectively and in an organized fashion.
  • Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required at hire for specific behavioral-health roles.
  • Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
  • Experience with office medical procedures and treatments; knowledge of insurance, EMR, and scheduling software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, measurements, and pain scores.
  • Report patient conditions that may indicate changes to clinicians.
  • Assist providers with examinations and minor in-office procedures (phlebotomy, ear irrigation, EKGs).
  • Chaperone as needed and follow PPE requirements.
  • Coordinate patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, scheduling, and test results communication.
  • Provide clerical support by maintaining medical records and documentation for visits.
  • Provide accurate billing information for patient encounters.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas; sterilize equipment.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs.
  • Order supplies and stock patient-care areas.
  • Manage medication-related tasks, including expired medications, recalls.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • Complete onboarding, orientation, and simulation training.
  • Work under provider supervision and collaborate with clinicians, nursing staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts.

  • Prioritize patient flow through the clinical process
  • Coordinate patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, scheduling, and communication of test results
  • Provide clerical support by maintaining medical records and documentation for patient visits
  • Provide accurate billing information for patient encounters
  • Clean and disinfect equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas; sterilize equipment and instruments

Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
  • Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations
  • Active Medical Assistant Certification required
  • Certification or additional training must meet Meaningful Use requirements
  • BLS certification required
  • Accepted certifications include RMA with current AMT membership, CMA with current AAMA membership, CCMA with current NHA membership (test administered after 7/1/2017 only), or NCMA with current NCCT membership
  • Strong computer skills, including ability to work with medical software
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple changing priorities effectively and in an organized fashion
  • Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required at hire and maintained throughout employment for employees in specified behavioral-health settings serving children
  • Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire for employees in specified behavioral-health settings
  • Experience with office medical procedures and treatments, and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software preferred
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred
