Job summary

Jobtailor in Millburn, NJ is seeking a diligent Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. You will greet patients, perform rooming, prepare specimens, update charts, and support providers in exam rooms, both in person and virtually.

Responsibilities include scheduling, handling patient communications, processing payments, maintaining exam rooms, and ensuring infection control per HIPAA and CDC guidelines. Prior experience in a clinical setting and CPR/BLS are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification required prior to start date.
  • 1 year of experience in a clinical environment and 1 year in admin/patient-facing roles required.

  • Perform patient care activities according to standards of practice.
  • Room clinic patients in person or virtually and update patient charts.
  • Communicate pertinent patient data to providers and nurses to support quality and continuity of care.
  • Greet patients, assist with scheduling, manage calls, and process payments.
  • Ensure efficient turnover of exam rooms.
  • Assist providers in exam rooms as requested.
  • Collect, prepare, and submit ordered patient lab specimens.
  • Assist the Patient Services team with prior authorizations and documentation.
  • Triage patient phone calls and messages and document them appropriately.
  • Order and manage supplies under the manager’s direction.
  • Disinfect and stock exam rooms.
  • Obtain records required for patient charts.
  • Report patient issues throughout the treatment day.
  • Follow company policies and CDC infection-control guidelines.
  • Handle and store hazardous materials properly.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and HIPAA adherence.
  • Communicate schedule changes and assist with patient rescheduling.
  • Manage incoming mail and deliveries.
  • Work independently on administrative functions and intake medical deliveries when no patients are scheduled.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team and report to the Clinical Operations Manager.

Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent, required
  • Medical Assistant Certification, preferred
  • CPR/BLS, required prior to start date
  • 1 year of experience working within a clinical environment, required
  • 1 year in an administrative, patient-facing, or customer service role, required
  • Phlebotomy and lab processing skills, preferred
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as needed
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate professionally and effectively with staff members, patients, and physicians
  • Computer skills for electronic recordkeeping
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Ability to use required PPE, including face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, mask, and other protective garments and equipment
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the US
