Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Medical Assistant in Florida to support clinicians with multi-skilled clinical tasks and patient healthcare management. You will provide hands-on patient care under physician supervision, prepare rooms and materials, and perform routine labs, EKGs, and phlebotomy while maintaining accurate medical records.

The role requires a high school diploma, completion of an approved MA program, and active MA certification or plan to obtain within 12 months.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant program recognized by USDE.
  • Active approved MA certification or plan to obtain within 12 months.
  • Certified MA credentials: CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA.
  • AHA BLS for healthcare providers.
  • Florida HIV/AIDS CE Certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical settings.
  • Strong communication and time management.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and professional ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist medical providers with multi-skilled clinical tasks and patient healthcare management.
  • Provide hands-on patient care and perform clinical procedures under physician supervision.
  • Prepare treatment and examination rooms, supplies, and instruments.
  • Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for physician care.
  • Perform routine lab tests, vital signs, EKGs, and phlebotomy.
  • Document and maintain accurate patient medical records.
  • Observe and report changes in patient signs or symptoms.
  • Safely administer medications as directed by the physician.
  • Assist with patient care activities including walking, escorting, and transport.
  • Sterilize instruments using sterile technique; maintain sterility.
  • Schedule patients for tests and complete lab forms.
  • Provide provider care instructions to patients.
  • Order, stock, and inventory supplies; assist with clerical duties.
  • Adhere to privacy, ethics, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership to ensure safe care delivery.

Job description

  • Prepare patients for physician care and explain examination procedures
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, vital signs, EKGs, and phlebotomy
  • Document in and maintain accurate patient medical records
  • Observe and report changes in patient signs or symptoms
  • Safely administer medications as directed by the physician
  • Assist with patient care activities, including walking, escorting, and transporting patients
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments using sterile technique
  • Schedule patients for tests and complete laboratory forms
  • Provide provider care instructions and information to patients
  • Order, stock, and inventory supplies and assist with clerical duties
  • Follow ethical standards, privacy requirements, institutional policies, and regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Manager, Nurse Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or designee to ensure safe care delivery
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant educational program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE)
  • Active approved MA certification, or proof of completion from an approved educational program and agreement to obtain a nationwide or statewide MA certification within 12 months of hire
  • Approved MA certifications include CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), CCMA (NHA), NCMA (NHA/NCCT), and NRCMA (NAHP)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
  • Florida HIV/AIDS Healthcare Professional Continuing Education (CE) Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience
  • Strong, effective communication skills with patients, families, and clinical team
  • Ability to adapt and exhibit flexibility to handle new, different, or changing environments
  • Strong time management skills to prioritize and act proactively
  • Ability to uphold professional ethics and maintain patient confidentiality
