Geisinger offers the MA to CMA Pathway, a paid training program that teaches medical assistants to perform CMA skills in both adult and pediatric outpatient settings. Training combines classroom instruction with clinical rotations to cover skills, responsibilities and procedures needed for certification.

Participants gain experience in rooming, documentation, specimen collection, patient education and supportive care as they progress toward CMA certification under supervision.

Qualifications

• Must hold a GED or High school diploma.

Responsibilities

• Train to perform basic patient care duties under supervision (vital signs, assists with examination).
• Train to administer medications per scope of practice as directed.
• Train to assist with minor procedures and prepare supplies.
