Job summary

Geisinger is offering a paid MA to CMA pathway designed to train individuals to perform the skills and responsibilities of a certified medical assistant in outpatient settings for adult and pediatric patients.

Training includes classroom and clinical rotations, with hands-on practice in vital signs, specimen collection, and assisting providers. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, with a High School diploma or GED required to enroll.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• Willing to train as a certified medical assistant.
• Interest in pediatric and adult outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

• Train to take vital signs and assist with ambulation, dressing and exam prep.
• Train to administer medications per clinic scope of practice.
• Assist providers with minor procedures and gather supplies.
• Document patient information in the medical record rooming tool.
• Conduct data gathering including medical, surgical, family histories, and medications.
• Accompany providers during examinations and assist as directed.
• Provide patient support and answer questions.
• Reinforce patient instructions for adherence to treatment and plan.
• Collect and prepare lab specimens and complete related paperwork.
• Prepare exam rooms and ensure sterility per policy.
• Perform high level disinfection or sterilization as required.
