Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant to join an outpatient clinic. You will provide direct patient care, document in the EMR, and support physicians during visits, with duties including EKGs, wound care, and minor procedures.

The role requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and CMA or RMA certification, with travel as needed. Benefits start day one and a range of professional supports are offered.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited 1-year certificate or 2-year diploma Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.
• Certified by one of the listed governing associations: NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient reason for visit, vital signs, and medication review using the EMR rooming tool.
• Set up examination and treatment rooms between cases and assist provider as needed.
• Perform EKGs, wound dressings, and support minor surgical procedures.
• Prepare and administer medications per policy after competency validation.
• Collect samples and complete lab paperwork to expedite studies.
• Perform phlebotomy and assist in related lab functions as directed.
• Complete receptionist and clerical duties to support patient care and charting.
• Document accurately in medical records and manage referrals/pre-authorizations.
