Job summary

Geisinger seeks a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) to provide direct patient care in an outpatient setting. You will support physicians, perform clinical duties, and handle scheduling and documentation in the EMR.

Responsibilities include vitals collection, rooming, EKGs, wound care, and preparing medications per policy. CTAs include patient education, phlebotomy, and coordinating referrals as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited 1-year certificate or 2-year diploma Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.
• Certified by one of the listed governing associations: NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient visit information, vitals, and screening data using the EMR rooming tool.
• Set up examination and treatment rooms between patient cases.
• Assist patients to prepare for visits and ensure safety and privacy.
• Perform direct patient care as directed, including EKGs and wound care.
• Prepare and administer medications per policy (no IV meds).
• Collect lab specimens and perform related paperwork for labs.
• Perform phlebotomy and assist in lab functions as needed.
• Handle receptionist and clerical duties supporting patient care and records.
• Document in medical records and use scheduling systems.
• Coordinate referrals and pre-authorizations; collect co-pays.
• Assist with orientation of new staff and patient education.
