Job Opportunity: Senior Medical Assistant at INTEGRIS Health

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor new Level II and entry-level Medical Assistants, assisting with orientation and development.
  • Provide direct patient care and act as a liaison between provider and patient.
  • Perform duties such as taking vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab procedures, x-ray, referrals, and managing patient phone messages, as directed by the provider or clinical supervisor.
  • Adhere to age-related competencies and National Patient Safety Goals based on patient contact level.
Qualifications
  • Current nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification/registration.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a clinic Medical Assistant in an ambulatory setting.
  • 3 years of customer service experience, with 3 years preferred in telephone customer service.
  • CPR or BLS certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Validated competency in medication administration.
  • Effective communication skills in English (verbal and written).
  • For IMG Float Pool: Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required, as operation of INTEGRIS-owned or personal vehicle may be necessary.
Responsibilities
  • Instruct patients/caregivers on signs of complications and home management per care plan.
  • Accurately document patient status using EMR.
  • Review charts for accuracy after each visit.
  • Report suspected abuse and refer patients/families to appropriate resources.
  • Perform procedures such as venipuncture, EKG, waived testing, bone density, x-ray, among others, as assigned.
  • Ensure sterilization of equipment after procedures.
  • Manage high call volumes with excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Organize workflow to meet patient needs promptly.
  • Gather and document patient information, including lab values, pain levels, education needs, and potential complications.
  • Participate in patient assessment and care planning, including medication administration (excluding narcotics).
  • Assist in orientation and development of new staff, signing off on competencies for Level II.

The Senior Medical Assistant is responsible for patient care and maintaining a safe environment. Physical demands and safety precautions are detailed in the Physical Demands Project SharePoint site or through Risk Management/Employee Health. Standard precautions must be followed to minimize exposure to hazards, including infectious diseases.
