The Patient Services Representative Senior acts as a mentor to new entry-level Patient Services Representatives and is responsible for ensuring the integrity of clinic data and patient information, answering telephones, taking concise messages, scanning and indexing information into the medical record, handling requests for medical records, and basic scheduling. This position requires population-specific competencies and adherence to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on patient contact level.

Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, including interpersonal and telephone customer service
  • Experience in cashier procedures, basic accounting, clinic check-in/out procedures, health insurance (HMO, PPO), basic medical terminology, CPT and ICD-9 coding (preferred), and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Effective communication skills in English (Verbal/Written)
Additional Requirements

IMG Float Pool: Must operate an INTEGRIS-owned or personal vehicle with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

IMG Clinics: Certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire for entering orders in electronic medical records.

Responsibilities
  • Enter daily charges accurately, including time of service payments
  • Balance end-of-day transactions
  • Make appointments and handle emergencies appropriately
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Enter patient demographics accurately
  • Complete outgoing referrals
  • Assist in training new employees
  • Manage incoming and outgoing calls
  • Contact third-party payers for benefits and pre-certification, and enter information into billing system
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and deposits; make financial arrangements
  • Perform financial counseling related to billing processes
  • Coordinate with clinical staff for patient placement
  • Perform check-in and check-out duties timely and accurately
  • Take messages accurately, using two patient identifiers
  • Manage high call volume with excellent etiquette
  • Organize workflow to meet patient needs efficiently

The Patient Services Representative Senior reports to the Office Manager/Supervisor. The role may include additional physical demands or respiratory fit test requirements. Must handle high volumes of calls and patient interactions, work under stress, and may require driving.
