Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient care under a provider's supervision. Responsibilities include rooming patients, collecting specimens, performing basic procedures, and ensuring quality documentation and infection control.

The role requires MA certification or ability to obtain it within 180 days, BLS, and strong communication. Salary ranges from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour with comprehensive benefits in a full-time setup.

Qualifications

• Certification as Medical Assistant and BLS at or within 180 days of hire.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and EMR systems.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in emergencies.
• Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Perform duties within Medical Assistant scope; operate diagnostic equipment and collect specimens.
• Prepare rooms, sterilize equipment, and assist physicians and nursing staff.
• Document patient care accurately and coordinate care with the clinical team.
• Ensure infection control, privacy, and safety policies are followed.
• Screen patients and support standard delegation of orders as applicable.
