Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is seeking Medical Assistants to support patient care in a Texas clinic. The MA provides care under a provider's supervision, assists with exams, and ensures proper documentation and infection control.

Qualifications

• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days of hire.
• Proven knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer literacy including Word, Excel, Outlook and EMR systems.
• Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Tuberculosis screening and immunity documentation (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis).

Responsibilities

• Performs duties within the Medical Assistant scope under supervision of a provider.
• Operates diagnostic equipment and collects specimens; performs EKGs.
• Prepares and sterilizes equipment and rooms; manages patient flow.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely in the medical record.
• Coordinates patient care with physicians and clinical staff in line with policy.
• Maintains infection control and patient confidentiality.
• Supports Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO) and related duties as assigned.
