Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care under supervision of a provider. The MA will assist physicians and nursing staff, manage patient flow, and help maintain a clean, organized clinical environment.

Requirements include valid MA certification or ability to obtain within 180 days and BLS certification, with basic computer skills and knowledge of EMR systems.

Qualifications

• Current national Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers (written exam and in-person assessment).
• Proven knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer literacy including Word, Excel, Outlook and EMR systems.
• Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• TB screening and immunity documentation for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant's practice and supports clinical staff.
• Operates diagnostic equipment, collects specimens, and assists with wound care as directed.
• Rooms patients, prepares for examination, and documents care accurately in the medical record.
• Coordinates patient care with physicians and maintains patient confidentiality.
• Stocks, cleans, and sterilizes exam rooms and equipment, following infection control policies.
