Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care under supervision. You will assist physicians, manage rooming, document care, and handle routine diagnostic tasks while maintaining infection control and patient confidentiality.

Required qualifications include MA certification (or within 180 days), BLS, medical terminology knowledge, and basic computer skills. Bilingual Spanish is a plus; competitive hourly pay plus benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers (written exam and in-person assessment) at time of hire or within 30 days of hire
• Proven knowledge of medical terminology
• Basic computer literacy including basic Word, Excel, Outlook and EMR systems
• Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• This position requires Tuberculosis screening as well as proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis through lab confirmation of immunity, documented evidence of vaccination, or a doctor's diagnosis of disease

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant's practice and operates diagnostic equipment.
• Assists in rooms patients and prepares for examinations.
• Records patient care documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and policy.
• Respects patient confidentiality and treats patients with courtesy and respect.
• Organizes exam and treatment rooms, stocks and cleans rooms and sterilizes instruments.
• Practices standard infection control precautions.
• Supports intake and information gathering without exercising clinical judgment.
• Follows Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO).
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
