Job summary

NSPC is seeking a Medical Assistant to greet patients, prepare for care, manage daily patient flow, and support providers. You will document vitals, medications, allergies and orders, and relay messages.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program preferred OR a minimum of two (2) years of clinical Medical Assistant experience, preferably in a specialty practice.
• At least one year of directly related experience, preferably in a group practice setting.
• Ability to take vital signs.
• General knowledge of healthcare and medical terminology.
• Working knowledge of insurance criteria pertaining to patient lab tests, X-rays, and other procedures.
• Excellent patient care skills and awareness of the legal implications of work and words in healthcare.
• General knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
• Excellent organizational/multi-tasking skills with acute attention to details
• Aptitude to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
• Ability to learn and use new software technologies for electronic patient medical records and practice management scheduling systems

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in waiting area, exam room, and/or procedure room as appropriate.
• Prepare patients for care, ensuring comfort and safety at all times.
• Manage daily patient flow and liaison between Providers and patients.
• Monitor clinical messages and relay responses to patients.
• Organize, clean, and prepare exam, procedure, and recovery rooms.
• Complete documentation for patient charts: vitals, meds, allergies, and orders.
• Provide discharge/follow-up instructions and educational materials.
• Assist with follow-up programs with pre/post procedure calls.
• Maintain infection control procedures and PPE; handle sterile supplies.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and privacy rules.
• Daily checks of equipment and report malfunctions to Center Manager.
• Assist with administrative duties when not providing patient care.
• Adhere to NSPC policies, OSHA/HIPAA rules and compliance training.
