Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care within our clinical practice. You will coordinate patient care under supervision, assist with examinations and procedures, and prepare exam rooms according to standardized workflows.

Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history, updating medication lists in the EHR, and following AHN protocols for screenings and referrals. CPR and background checks may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School / GED or Completion of a Medical Assistant Program
• Certification requirements include: graduated from program within five years or one year MA work experience with certification trial and completion within 120 days of hire
• Preferred Associate's Degree
• CPR - American Heart Association and background clearances as required

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepare and room patients per standardized workflows.
• Accurately obtain vital signs and document patient information and history.
• Possibly assist with depression screening tools.
• Complete annual wellness visit screenings.
• Review and update medication lists in the EHR.
• Maintain patient history and social history records.
• Pends or cues orders for screenings, prescriptions, or refills per AHN protocols.
• Perform back office testing per AHN policies.
• Assist providers with examinations and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with training.
• Follow up with patients by preferred method and notify test results as directed.
• Prepare exam rooms and ensure adequate inventory and stocked treatment areas.
• Sterilize instruments and perform lab controls as assigned.
• Document medications per policy and safe practice in the EHR.
