Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in a busy clinical practice. You will coordinate examinations, prepare patients for visits, document histories, and assist with routine testing.

The role emphasizes teamwork, HIPAA compliance and accurate EHR documentation. Completion of a Medical Assistant program and CPR certification are required, with background clearances as part of the process.

Qualifications

• Must have high school or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant program.
• Certification: CMA/CCMA/MA AAMA/NCCT/AMCA or equivalent required.
• Preferred associate degree; CPR certification required.
• Background clearances (Act 34/Act 33/Act 73/FBI) may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepare and room patients according to workflows.
• Obtain vitals and document history, tobacco and medication screening.
• Assist with depression screening tools and wellness visits.
• Review and update medication lists in the EHR.
• Assist with orders for screenings, prescriptions, refills as per protocols.
• Perform back office nursing duties and lab controls as assigned.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with training.
• Follow up with patients via their preferred method as instructed by provider.
