Job summary

Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care across multiple divisions. You will perform rooming, vital signs, medication reconciliation, and a range of administrative tasks to support providers and patients.

Responsibilities include assisting with procedures, performing venipuncture and CLIA-waived tests, and administering vaccines. A high school diploma or GED and an accredited MA program are required, with BLS certification expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant program preferred or DD214-based training.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience in Medical Assistant role in the last 5 years.
• Current BLS certification; many Atrium Health divisions require competency assessment and specific certifications.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies and procedures.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, history, medication reconciliation, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT, CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines per rights.
• Handles duties like refills, insurance authorizations, scheduling, referrals.
• Cross-trained to support specialty or clinic practices.
• Maintains clean work environment and ensures equipment is functional.
