Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical teams in Charlotte. The role includes rooming patients, recording vitals, documenting histories, and assisting with procedures under provider guidance.

You will perform basic lab tasks, administer vaccines and medications, and help with scheduling and referrals. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, plus an accredited MA program or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or military training as clinical in nature per DD214.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 2 years of verifiable full-time Medical Assistant experience within the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows all policies and procedures, maintaining training and competency.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medical history, medication reconciliation, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings.
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab-related duties including venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, and lab orders.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
• Cross trained to perform duties relevant to specialty or clinic practice within the MA scope.
• Demonstrates effective communication, teamwork, and escalation as needed.
• Maintains a clean work environment and ensures equipment/supplies are stocked and functioning.
• Provides age-appropriate care and uses growth/development knowledge for patient needs.
