Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical operations in Charlotte, NC. You will perform rooming tasks, vital signs, medical history reviews, and screenings, while assisting physicians with procedures and coordinating follow-ups.

You will also handle lab duties, administer medications and vaccines, and manage referrals, scheduling, and patient communications. The role requires adherence to CLIA standards and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or military training per DD214 in lieu of formal program or EMT.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies and procedures.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, medical history, screenings, accuracy checks.
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT, CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines following medication administration rights.
• Performs other duties: refills, authorizations, safety logs, scheduling, referrals.
• Cross-trained for duties related to specialty or clinic practice.
• Maintains clean environment and ensures equipment and supplies are stocked.
• Communicates effectively and escalates as needed.
• Assesses patient age-specific needs and adheres to department standards.
