Job summary

Atrius Health in eastern Massachusetts is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians with routine procedures and tests in the exam room, and to advise patients on preparation for exams.

You will measure vital signs, update the EMR, reconcile medications, perform waived point-of-care tests, greet patients, and help ensure smooth clinic flow in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency certificate or Medical Assistant Certification.
• Computer experience required and basic clerical skills preferred.
• EMR experience and comfort with electronic records systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize appointment availability.
• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms according to policy.
• Prepare patient for examination; measure vital signs (BP, pulse, weight, height).
• Assist clinicians with routine procedures and tests; advise on preparation for exams.
• Ensure EMR is updated with current medical information and meds/allergies.
• Keep patients informed of visit status and delays.
• Reconcile medications and set up pending refills; discontinue inactive prescriptions.
• Assist with minor patient concerns/complaints as appropriate.
• Order and perform waived point-of-care testing (strep, urine, hCG, glucose).
