Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency; Medical Assistant Certification
• Current BLS or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
• Knowledge of reagent stability and storage
• Understands the testing procedure and factors influencing test results
• Computer experience with EMR experience and/or aptitude to master EMR-based on other technology experience

Responsibilities

• Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize appointment availability
• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms according to policy and procedures
• Prepare patient for examination; Measures vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse rate, weight, and height
• Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department; Advises patients of pre-visit testing requirements
• Ensures EMR is updated with medical information and demographic data
• Keeps patients informed of visit status and delays
• Reconcile medications and set up pending refills; Discontinues inactive prescriptions
• Assists in resolving minor patient concerns and complaints
• Orders and performs point-of-care testing (e.g., strep, urine, hCG, glucose)
