Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; BA/BS preferred.
• Bi-lingual (oral and written) bi-cultural skills.
• Medical interpreting skills, including accuracy and memory.
• Fluency in English and target language(s) with medical terminology.
• One year of experience in healthcare interpreting preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interprets between clinicians and patients during encounters (in person/telephone).
• Liaises between patients and staff and explains medical context as needed.
• Provides cultural context to clinicians treating patients in Spanish/other languages.
• Interprets for ancillary departments and non-clinical staff as needed.
• Supports interpreters services coordinator and schedule coordination.
• Edits translated materials and assists with outreach activities.
