Job summary

Ensemble Health Partners is seeking a Public Benefit Specialist on-site at RSFH - Roper Hospital in Charleston, SC to assess Medicaid eligibility and assist with applications for uninsured/under-insured patients.

Responsibilities include obtaining documents, updating insurance data, and coordinating with Medicaid caseworkers while recording actions in patient accounting systems. A high school diploma and CRCR certification within 9 months are required or encouraged.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years in healthcare interacting with patients about hospital financial issues.
• Understanding of Revenue Cycle including admission, billing, payments and denials.
• Knowledge of Health Insurance requirements.
• Knowledge of CPT or procedure codes.
• Patient Access experience with managed care/insurance and call center experience preferred.
• Inquisitive with openness to AI to improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Review referred uninsured/under-insured patients for Medicaid eligibility; coordinate applications.
• Communicate with patients to obtain documents needed for applications.
• Track applications to determination, update insurance information and ensure timely billing.
• Document actions and communications in patient accounting systems.
• Maintain knowledge of state and federal Medicaid requirements; collaborate with partners.
• Support relations with Medicaid caseworkers and other revenue cycle departments.
