Job summary

Ensemble Health Partners is seeking a Public Benefit Specialist to work on-site at HSHS - St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. The role focuses on evaluating Medicaid eligibility and assisting with application processes to enable timely submissions and billing.

You will interact with uninsured or under-insured patients, collect required documents, and coordinate with Medicaid caseworkers and other revenue cycle teams to ensure compliant and efficient outcomes.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years in healthcare dealing with patient financial issues.
• Understanding of Revenue Cycle including admissions, billing and denials.
• Knowledge of patient insurance processes for authorizations and benefits verification.
• Knowledge of health insurance requirements.
• Experience in patient access, managed care, or call center is preferred.
• CRCR certification within 9 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate uninsured/under-insured patients for program eligibility.
• Obtain documents needed for Medicaid or financial assistance submissions.
• Update insurance information and ensure timely billing/adjustments.
• Document actions in patient accounting systems.
• Maintain knowledge of state and federal program requirements; liaise with partners.
