Job summary

Ensemble Health Partners is hiring a Public Benefit Specialist to work on-site at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. You will screen uninsured or under-insured patients for Medicaid eligibility and assist with the application submission process.

Requires 1–2 years in healthcare patient financial interactions and knowledge of Revenue Cycle, insurance processes and CPT codes. Position offers tuition reimbursement, certifications and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in healthcare interacting with patients about hospital financial issues.
• Understanding of Revenue Cycle including admissions, billing, payments and denials.
• Knowledge of patient insurance process for obtaining authorizations and benefits verification.
• Knowledge of health insurance requirements; CPT codes.
• Patient Access experience with managed care/insurance and Call Center experience preferred.
• Must be inquisitive and open to innovation including AI to improve processes.
• High School Diploma or GED; combination of post-secondary education and experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Review uninsured/under-insured patients for program eligibility and initiate the application process.
• Communicate with patients to obtain documents required for the application.
• Follow submitted applications to the determination point and update insurance information.
• Document actions in assigned patient accounting systems.
• Maintain knowledge of state and federal Medicaid requirements and share with colleagues.
• Develop relationships with Medicaid caseworkers and revenue cycle partners.
• Other duties as assigned.
