Job summary

Pratt Paper Mills is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join a maintenance team supporting the paper machine. You will work under the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor on a 24/7 rotating schedule, with both day and shift assignments over time.

The role requires a strong focus on preventive maintenance, diagnostics of mechanical systems, and safe operation of lifts and equipment. Training and growth opportunities are available within a high performance work system.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree (2–4 years) from college or technical school.
• Computer/Data entry skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Pulp/Paper or Chemical Engineering.
• Able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, P&ID’s, and procedure manuals.
• Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
• Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain processes in a preventive fashion to ensure reliability and uptime.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic problems on process equipment.
• Repair malfunctioning equipment such as pumps and transmissions.
• Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, Genie lifts, hoists and cranes safely.
• Read orders and prepare legible reports.
