Job summary

IMEG is seeking a Mechanical Project Designer to lead design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems in Charlotte, NC. You will guide project planning, budgeting, and scheduling while mentoring staff and collaborating with senior engineers and architects to deliver high-quality MEP solutions for housing, commercial, and retail markets.

You will interact with clients to gather requirements, perform calculations, and ensure designs meet IMEG standards and industry codes.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required.
• 3 years minimum experience, 4 preferred in commercial building design.
• For BIM path, an Associates in BIM/Engineering with 7+ years experience is acceptable.
• Proficiency with BIM and standard engineering software is expected.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations to code and IMEG standards.
• Interact with clients to gather requirements and maintain relationships.
• Manage project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines.
• Document design decisions and monitor progress and fees.
• Provide in-process design reviews and QA against IMEG standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
