Job summary

IMEG Corporation in Charlotte, NC seeks a Mechanical Project Designer to lead design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. You will manage projects or lead engineering tasks, collaborating with senior staff on larger jobs and ensuring solutions meet client needs and IMEG standards. Responsibilities include detailed designs, client communications, budgeting, and scheduling.

Strong knowledge of thermodynamics and BIM is expected. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years in building design; 4 preferred.
• Associates/BIM cert with 7+ years; 8 preferred.
• Strong thermo/fluid mechanics knowledge for mechanical design.
• Proficiency in BIM and engineering software.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design analyses.
• Create designs, specs, and calculations to codes and IMEG standards.
• Gather requirements from clients and maintain relationships.
• Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling within teams.
• Document design decisions and monitor progress (percent complete, fees).
• Analyze problems with senior staff to develop practical solutions.
• Provide in‑process reviews of designs and specs.
• Implement IMEG quality control across designs.
• Stay current with industry trends and innovations.
• Prioritize safety in engineering work.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, PMs for integrated solutions.
• Identify risks and oversee from bidding to construction.
