Job summary

Stantec is seeking an engineering intern to join the Buildings team across multiple Northeast locations, where you will gain hands‑on experience on HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other mechanical systems.

You will work with engineers and designers on real projects, using AutoCAD MEP and Revit, and may participate in a Summer Intern Design Project. This full‑time internship offers fieldwork opportunities and professional mentorship.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
• The candidate should be able to report to the office in Rochester, NY; Albany, NY; Binghamton, NY; or Burlington, MA.
• Some fieldwork may be required.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD MEP and Revit.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Building Mechanical Engineers and Designers to prepare reports, design documents, and calculations.
• Perform engineering calculations using HVAC design software and Excel
• Use AutoCAD and Revit to prepare HVAC and plumbing drawings and details
• Learn to apply fundamental engineering principles to solve real-world problems
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams
• Participate in Summer Intern Design Project with interns of other building design disciplines
