Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking mechanical co-op interns in a Fortune 500 setting to support reliability and project engineering tasks across select mills in the United States. Roles include safety and efficiency improvements, data-driven reliability work, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities cover planning, budgeting, and coordination with maintenance and engineering teams, with potential growth into full-time positions.

Qualifications

• Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0 and must be a permanent U.S. resident with a valid driver’s license.
• Majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field; freshman year completed or to be completed by time of co-op/intern.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical reliability assignments to improve mill safety, efficiency, equipment performance and cost effectiveness.
• Apply predictive and preventive maintenance techniques (lubrication, alignment, vibration analysis, root cause analysis) to improve reliability.
• Collect, analyze, and use mill data to support process optimization and business decisions.
• Coordinate improvement efforts with engineering, maintenance, operations and cross-disciplinary teams.
