Job summary

RTX is seeking a highly skilled mechanical design engineer to contribute across the product lifecycle for defense systems. You will develop 3D models, drawings, and robust assemblies, while collaborating with systems, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to solve complex challenges.

The role emphasizes rapid prototyping, hands-on fabrication, and GD&T application, with travel as needed and a path toward advanced mechanical solutions in a safety-first environment.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in STEM; degree must be obtained by start date.
  • Experience using parametric 3D CAD to generate 3D models and 2D drawings.
  • Experience in mechanical design via coursework, research, or projects.
  • Preferred: Master’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • GPA 3.0+ from ABET-accredited institution.
  • GD&T knowledge per ASME Y14.5.
  • Hands-on rapid prototyping and fabrication experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, model, and document mechanical components and major assemblies.
  • Generate and maintain parametric 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
  • Validate design fit, form, and function via prototyping and testing.
  • Support manufacturing, assembly, and supplier activities.
  • Participate in design reviews and trade studies.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve issues.
