Job summary

RTX is seeking a Mechanical/ Aerospace Engineer for our Hardware Engineering Organization in the US. You will contribute to mission-critical defense systems from concept to prototyping, verification testing, and factory support, collaborating with systems, electrical, and manufacturing engineers.

The role emphasizes 3D CAD modeling, rapid prototyping, and cross-functional problem solving, with domestic travel as needed and a competitive salary with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required by start date.
• Experience using parametric 3D CAD to generate 3D solid models, assemblies and 2D drawings.
• Mechanical design experience via coursework, research, competitions, or projects.
• Preferred: Master’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; GPA 3.0+ from ABET-accredited school.
• Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Hands-on rapid prototyping and fabrication (3D printing or machine shop).
• Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude for structural/thermal or multidisciplinary hardware challenges.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, and document mechanical components and major end items per defense requirements.
• Create parametric 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings.
• Validate designs via rapid prototyping, testing, and simulations.
• Support factory operations, integration facilities, and suppliers with manufacturing and assembly.
• Participate in design reviews and trade studies to inform engineering decisions.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve mechanical hardware issues.
