Job summary

Raytheon in Marlborough, MA, is seeking a highly motivated mechanical engineer to contribute to defense systems across radar, missile, and C2 platforms. You will participate from concept through prototyping, testing, and factory support, collaborating with systems, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to deliver robust, high‑reliability solutions.

The role requires a STEM degree and hands-on experience with parametric CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, CATIA, NX).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline. Degree must be obtained by start date.
• Experience utilizing parametric 3D CAD software to generate 3D solid models, mechanical assemblies, and detailed 2D engineering drawings.
• Experience in mechanical design through coursework, academic research, engineering competition teams, or hands‑on projects.
• Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, and document mechanical components, sub‑assemblies, and major end items in accordance with defense system requirements.
• Generate and maintain parametric 3D CAD models, complex assembly hierarchies, and detailed 2D drawings.
• Validate design through rapid prototyping, testing, and simulations.
• Support factory operations, integration facilities, and external suppliers with manufacturing, assembly, and integration.
• Participate in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to inform decisions.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to analyze and resolve mechanical hardware issues.
