Job summary

AdeptAg is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop new products, improve existing ones, and troubleshoot complex systems. You will use CAD to create detailed drawings, prototype and test concepts, and collaborate with automation engineers and operations to deliver manufacturable solutions.

Ideal candidates will have a BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, strong analytical and communication skills, and a hands-on approach to problem solving and mentorship within a growing North

The Role

A mechanical engineer applies their knowledge of mechanical systems and materials to design and develop new products, improve existing products, and troubleshoot problems with existing products. They use computer-aided design (CAD) software and other tools to create technical drawings and specifications that detail the size, shape, and materials needed to manufacture a product.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical systems: Design and develop mechanical systems using computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed schematics and models of mechanical systems.
  • Conducting research: Conduct research to develop new technologies and products, and to improve existing systems.
  • Developing prototypes: Develop prototypes of mechanical systems, including designing and building prototypes, testing them, and analyzing their performance.
  • Testing and debugging: Responsible for testing and debugging mechanical systems to ensure they operate as intended. This may involve conducting laboratory tests, writing test scripts, and simulating system behavior.
  • Communication: Responsible for communicating project status, progress, and any changes to stakeholders, including management and any other departments.
  • Maintenance: Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical systems to ensure they continue to be manufacturable. Research of alternative solutions and parts.
  • Mentorship: Provide mentorship and technical guidance to service personnel helping develop their skills.
  • Documentation: Mechanical engineers are responsible for documenting the systems they design, including creating technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Collaboration: Mechanical engineers often work closely with other teams, including product manager, automation engineers, and operations, to design and develop mechanical systems.
Key Skills & Qualifications
  • Welding & Metalworking: Experience welding various metals, including steel and aluminum, with strong knowledge of MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques. Proficient in metalworking processes such as cutting, drilling, and grinding.
  • Sheet Metal Fabrication: Experience bending sheet metal to create parts and components, including techniques such as press braking and roll bending.
  • CAD Proficiency: Skilled in computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop detailed schematics and 3D models. Ability to produce accurate technical drawings and simulate forming and bending processes.
  • Mathematical & Analytical Skills: Strong ability to perform calculations, analyze data, and develop effective engineering solutions.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, evaluate alternatives, and implement optimal solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of precision and accuracy, with the ability to identify and correct errors while ensuring components meet performance and safety standards.
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Qualifications & Education Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical certifications/experience.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, service providers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively and build positive working relationships across teams and with external partners.
  • Problem-Solving: Proven ability to identify issues and implement timely, effective solutions, particularly in service delivery or operational environments.
  • Technical/Computer Skills: Proficiency in relevant software and technology, including systems used to interface with industrial automation equipment.
  • Customer Focus: Strong understanding of customer service principles with a commitment to delivering high-quality support and solutions.
