Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Approximately 3+ years of mechanical engineering or design experience in industrial, processing, institutional, or commercial facilities.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), or commitment to obtain PE licensure within 18 months of employment.
  • Working knowledge of building, mechanical, plumbing, and NFPA codes/standards.
  • Experience with HVAC, heat transfer, utility piping, process piping, and/or plumbing systems.
  • Ability to apply engineering judgment, troubleshoot problems, and develop practical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct independent mechanical engineering work requiring judgment in evaluation and adaptation of techniques and criteria.
  • Prepare and modify specifications, calculations, layouts, and construction docs per codes and standards.
  • Develop constructable mechanical designs for industrial facilities, including HVAC, utility, and process piping systems.

  • Perform sizing, piping, and utility calculations and other design analyses.
  • Coordinate design activities with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams; drive action items to completion.

EAD Management Services is looking for an Associate Mechanical Engineer for projects in industrial and processing facilities. The Associate Mechanical Engineer independently executes mechanical engineering design, equipment specification, facility layout, utility system design, and multidisciplinary coordination activities for industrial projects. This role applies sound engineering judgment to develop safe, reliable, maintainable, and cost-effective solutions while expanding technical expertise, client relationships, and project leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct independent mechanical engineering work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Prepare and modify specifications, calculations, equipment layouts, piping layouts, sketches, and other construction documentation in accordance with applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, project requirements, and EAD standards.
  • Develop constructable mechanical designs for industrial facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, utility, and process piping systems.
  • Specify process and mechanical equipment, including tanks, pressure vessels, pumps, heat exchangers, conveyors, pneumatic conveying systems, dust collection equipment, and related utilities.
  • Perform equipment sizing, piping and utility calculations, pressure drop calculations, heat-transfer calculations, and other mechanical design analyses.
  • Perform field activities, including observing and documenting existing conditions, taking and verifying measurements, and coordinating design requirements within active facilities.
  • Prepare conceptual layouts, design sketches, and technical direction for Designers and Drafters to incorporate into project drawings.
  • Research design alternatives, coordinate with equipment vendors, evaluate technical information, and document recommendations for the project team and client.
  • Coordinate mechanical design activities with clients, vendors, construction administrators, and multidisciplinary project teams; document decisions and drive assigned action items to completion.
  • Perform and document technical design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination reviews to support accurate, complete, and constructable deliverables.
  • Develop conceptual construction cost estimates and provide technical input for proposals, project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Lead assigned small-scope mechanical projects or discrete work packages, including coordination of scope, schedule, budgeted hours, quality, and technical deliverables.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple assignments to achieve project results within cost and schedule constraints.
  • Support construction-phase activities by responding to technical questions, reviewing submittals, and observing installation for conformance with design intent, local regulations, and project requirements.
  • Participate in discipline-specific and company-wide business development activities.
  • Adhere to all EAD safety standards, practices, and project protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Approximately 3 or more years of mechanical engineering or design experience in industrial, processing, institutional, or commercial facilities.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), or commitment to obtain PE licensure within 18 months of employment.
  • Working knowledge of applicable building codes, mechanical codes, plumbing codes, and NFPA standards.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical equipment specification and industrial facility design.
  • Experience with HVAC, heat transfer, utility piping, process piping, and/or plumbing systems.
  • Ability to apply engineering judgment, troubleshoot technical and operational problems, and develop practical solutions within project constraints.
  • Ability to develop accurate calculations, specifications, layouts, and technical documentation with limited supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to set priorities and meet project deadlines and budgets while managing multiple assignments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients, vendors, construction personnel, and in-house staff.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail, quality, and follow-through.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and mechanical design software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Possess and be able to maintain a valid driver's license.
Preferred Certifications and Skills:
  • Experience specifying mechanical equipment for industrial or commercial projects.
  • Experience with food and beverage, life sciences, specialty chemical, consumer goods, or parcel and logistics facilities.
  • Experience supporting construction administration, field coordination, or commissioning activities.
  • Experience developing conceptual cost estimates and engineering proposals.
  • Experience leading a small project, work package, or multidisciplinary design coordination effort.
