Job summary

United Launch Alliance is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Payload Accommodations team. You will create and revise engineering models, perform trade studies, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure launcher payload integration and release mechanisms meet mission requirements.

The role emphasizes teamwork, problem solving, and communication with program management and customers, with travel as needed and potential for security clearance considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Familiarity with structural/mechanical system engineering design.
• Demonstrated teamwork skills and ability to lead tasks with senior engineers.
• Strong time management and communication skills; able to interpret engineering drawings and standards.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise engineering models of structural/mechanical components and assemblies for launch vehicle requirements.
• Perform trade studies to optimize manufacturability, producibility, and performance.
• Identify causes of problems and implement engineering corrective actions.
• Develop design improvements to reduce cost, risk and improve reliability.
• Coordinate with mission management, production sites, launch sites, suppliers, test facilities and payload customers.
