Job summary

ULA in Denver seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Payload Accommodations team to design, analyze, and test payload interfaces for the Vulcan Centaur launch vehicle.

You will create engineering models, perform trade studies, and coordinate with management, production sites, launch sites, suppliers, test facilities, and payload customers to meet schedules. A Bachelor's in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering and travel ability are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; familiarity with structural/mechanical system design, development, and qualification.
• Project management and/or integration experience.
• Demonstrated teamwork skills.
• Ability to operate with limited support from senior engineers.
• Time management and strong self-initiative.
• Good communication and writing skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
• Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise engineering models of structural/mechanical components and assemblies in support of launch vehicle and mission requirements.
• Perform trade studies to optimize designs for manufacturability, producibility, and performance.
• Support identification of causes of problems and implement corrective actions.
• Develop design improvements that reduce cost, risk, or improve performance and reliability.
