Job summary

United Launch Alliance is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Payload Accommodations team responsible for integrating payload interfaces on the Vulcan Centaur launch vehicle. You will design, analyze, and test structural components and support payload integration on the ground, ensuring robust interfaces and reliable performance.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, at least 2 years of related experience, and the ability to travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Experience in structural/mechanical system design, development & qualification.
• Project management and/or integration experience.
• Demonstrated teamwork skills.
• Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise engineering models of structural/mechanical components and assemblies for launch vehicle design and mission requirements.
• Perform trade studies to optimize designs for manufacturing, producibility, and performance.
• Identify causes of problems and implement engineering corrective actions.
• Develop design improvements to reduce cost, risk and improve reliability.
• Coordinate with mission management, production sites, launch sites, suppliers, test facilities, and payload customers.
• Communicate design and analysis solutions to technical management and customers.
