Job summary

Axon seeks a Mechanical Engineer to own the design and integration of advanced hardware at its Sterling, VA site. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver durable, high‑performance products, from concept through manufacturing.

The role emphasizes CAD modeling, prototyping, thermal analysis, and MIL‑STD compliance. A Mechanical Engineering degree and hands‑on experience with SolidWorks/AutoCAD/Fusion 360, prototyping tools, and embedded systems are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proven mechanical design and system integration experience in hardware.
• Hands-on prototyping and fabrication tool experience.
• Knowledge of MIL‑STD and designing for harsh environments.
• Experience with CAD modeling for 3D drawings and assembly diagrams.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and microcontrollers.

Responsibilities

• Drive innovative product development from concept through manufacturability.
• Lead subsystem and system‑level architectural design discussions.
• Create and analyze high‑fidelity prototypes and test methods.
• Perform detailed mechanical analysis including FEA and tolerance studies.
• Collaborate with domestic and international teams across functions.
• Document design specs, production processes, and compliance requirements.
• Support a hybrid onsite/work environment in Sterling, VA.
