Job summary

Vertiv in Anderson, SC is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design mechanical parts for switchboard/switchgear, focusing on LV power distribution systems. You’ll lead design from concept to release in PLM, providing guidance to global and local teams for new product development and sustaining products.

You will develop 2D/3D drawings, BOMs, and collaborate across cross-functional teams while ensuring compliance with UL/NEC/IEC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years in product development or an Associate's with 7+ years.
• Expert in 3D CAD design; SolidWorks and/or Creo preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and understand components like fuses, breakers, transformers.
• Experience with Model-Based Design (MBD) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept and detailed design of power systems using sheet metal, busbar, cables and harnesses.
• Develop complex drawings and BOMs; produce 2D drawings or MBD outputs.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to share tasks and ideas.
• Release drawings and BOMs in PLM; submit and manage change orders.
• Coordinate with simulation teams for Seismic, CFD and thermal analyses.
• Support prototypes with manufacturing; assist testing as needed.
• Interpret and apply UL, NEC, and IEC standards to designs.
• Source parts for prototypes and production; create submittal drawings.
