Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to advance next-generation STS and PDU products used in mission-critical power and data centers. You will develop manufacturable 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs, with PLM-based releases, while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and testing teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on product development, prototype validation, and design verification across the lifecycle, based onsite in Delaware, Ohio for visible impact on global customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years in mechanical design, product development, or new product development
• Associate degree with 7+ years in mechanical design, product development, or new product development
• Design and development of commercial, industrial, electrical, electromechanical, or manufactured products
• New product development from concept through production release
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software and mechanical design best practices
• Creation of engineering drawings and bills of material
• PLM, revision control, or engineering change management systems
• Interpretation of technical specifications, drawings, and engineering documentation
• Collaboration within cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities for new products and product improvements
• Develop 3D models, engineering drawings, and bills of material
• Translate product requirements into practical and manufacturable designs
• Manage engineering releases and product documentation within PLM systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve design and manufacturing challenges
• Support prototype builds, design verification, and product testing activities
• Review simulation results and apply findings to optimize product performance
• Create customer-facing technical drawings and documentation
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders throughout development projects
• Support manufacturing and production teams during new product introductions
• Identify opportunities for product, process, and documentation improvements
