Job summary

Crossing Hurdles is seeking a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer (CAD & Manufacturing) to drive manufacturability and accuracy in a remote setting. The role requires creating and interpreting engineering drawings, developing 2D/3D models, and applying GD&T. You will collaborate across teams to ensure design intent and DFx optimization, with a flexible 10–40 hours/week workload.

Role Responsibilities

• Create and interpret professional engineering drawings for manufacturing
• Translate design requirements into manufacturable CAD specifications
• Produce detailed 2D and 3D models using various industry-standard tools
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to all deliverables
• Document manufacturing processes and communicate design intent clearly
• Review and improve existing engineering documentation for clarity
• Contribute insights on design for manufacture (DFM) and optimize parts

Requirements

• Proficiency in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, and NX
• Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and drafting standards
• Experience in manufacturing processes and material selection
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to precision and accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration
• Ability to provide constructive feedback and critiques on engineering documents
• Demonstrated technical documentation skills for clarity in design intent
