Job summary

SaidGig seeks a remote contract engineer to apply mechanical design and manufacturing expertise for training AI systems through real-world engineering input. You will create, interpret, and review manufacturable CAD designs and technical docs with strong emphasis on precision and clarity.

Use SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, NX, and FreeCAD to develop and verify models, drawings, and specifications. Collaboration is remote, with a focus on high-quality, manufacturable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Extensive mechanical design experience from concept through manufacturing.
• Expert CAD capability across multiple platforms including SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, NX.
• Hands-on FreeCAD knowledge for model interpretation/reference.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerancing, drafting standards and DFM practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with remote collaboration experience.

Role Overview

Apply mechanical design and manufacturing expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through precise, real-world engineering input. This remote contract role focuses on creating, interpreting, reviewing, and improving manufacturable CAD designs and technical documentation. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and interpret professional engineering drawings with the details needed for manufacturing.
• Translate complex design requirements into accurate, manufacturable CAD specifications.
• Produce detailed 2D and 3D models using SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, and NX, and use FreeCAD to interpret or reference models.
• Apply tolerancing, dimensioning, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, GD&T, principles to deliverables.
• Document manufacturing processes and design intent clearly in written and verbal formats.
• Review, critique, and improve engineering documentation for clarity and manufacturability.
• Provide design for manufacturing, DFM, insight and optimize parts for real-world production.

Qualifications

• Extensive mechanical design experience, including parts taken from concept through manufacturing.
• Expert-level CAD capability across multiple platforms, including SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, and NX.
• Hands‑on FreeCAD knowledge for model interpretation or reference.
• Strong knowledge of engineering drawing interpretation, drafting standards, GD&T, tolerancing, technical documentation, manufacturing processes, material selection, and DFM practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain engineering concepts and decisions clearly.
• Experience collaborating remotely and providing constructive, professional feedback.
• Strong precision, accuracy, problem‑solving, and feedback skills.

Work Terms

Remote independent contractor engagement.

Compensation

$40 to $80 per hour.
