Job summary

Crossing Hurdles is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a contractor role (~15 hours/week) working remotely. You will analyze multi-part mechanical assemblies, drive design decisions, and ensure robust GD&T and tooling expertise.

Strong experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Inventor or Fusion), design reviews leadership, and ability to teach and mentor teams. Excellent written English and the ability to document reasoning from CAD models are essential.

Role Responsibilities

• Analyze and dissect multi-part mechanical assemblies to identify critical design decisions and potential failure points.

Requirements

• Have strong relevant experience creating and overseeing multi-part mechanical assemblies from concept.


• Mastery in at least one major parametric CAD tool such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion, Onshape, or Solid Edge.


• Demonstrated experience in teaching, mentoring, or leading design reviews or engineering teams.


• Expertise in design intent, assembly reasoning, mechanism and kinematic analysis, and robust GD&T/tolerance judgment.


• Background in industrial machinery and automation, robotics, automotive and heavy equipment, aerospace and defense, medical devices, consumer products, or tooling and fixture design.


• Exceptional written English communication skills.
